Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration
Previous thirty day period the Marinette County Board of supervisors accredited contributing $43,900 to the City of Marinette to the order of a new 24 ft research and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be in a position to use the airboat. Nevertheless, at yesterday’s County Board conference a motion was brought forth by Supervisor Allen to rethink action taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the City of Marinette for order of the Airboat. Due to the fact the Metropolis of Marinette has just lately allocated $500 for each worker for COVID-19 vaccinations employing ARPA funds when they could have applied their ARPA cash toward the funding of the airboat instead of inquiring the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre states, “the Metropolis of Marinette acquired $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”
Supervisor Ken Keller says, “there is a motive why the town is wanting for participation in the paying for of the airboat.”
After a lengthy discussion, the board voted, and it came in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor. The expected delivery day of the airboat is mid-January.
