If you are a homeowner, chances are your property values have risen over the past year as the pandemic pushed people from the city into the suburbs.
You may also have noticed that your town reassessed your property values, something likely to have given you pause about your next tax bill.
Reporter Megan Burrow dug into the issue and found that property values have jumped around 5 percent.

Battle over a symbol of hope
Another pandemic-related issue cropped up in North Haledon — as it so happens — on an outcropping of rock on top of which sits an illuminated star.
Put there at the start of the pandemic, the star was meant to inspire hope, said North Haledon Mayor Randy George.
